The Vanderbeekers: Lost and Found

The Vanderbeekers: Lost and Found by Karina Yan Glaser is the fourth book in a series that focuses on family, friends, community, and a desire to make the world a better place.

When fall came, the Vanderbeekers were busy helping their landlord train for the New York City Marathon. They were also making sure the mysterious person sleeping in the garden shed had enough to eat and stayed warm in the cooler months. But when they found the true identity of the Person of Mystery, their entire world flipped upside down. The Vanderbeekers finally understood what it meant to care for someone in an impossible situation and they showed how friends could be family and families could be unconventional.

I really enjoyed this book because it was so engaging that I felt like I was there with them, watching everything unfold. It was also very uplifting to read about what the Vanderbeekers did for their friend in need. I think this book would be a good read for fifth to seventh graders.
